Sometimes after we've had a short consulation with someone, it becomes clear that the inquiring individual should invest their time and money in something other than Paintless Dent Repair. After all, PDR is not for everyone. In these situations we tell them the truth and why. We want to give people every opportunity to be successful. We become friends with many of our trainees, and often find ourselves given the opportunity to work with them in the future.
Over the years we have re-trained many people who have received bad instruction which resulted in them struggling for some time. Our satisfaction comes with your success.
 The Flex-A-Dent Training Curriculum teaches you not only the "how" but the "why" by teaching the science of dent repair. It is important to learn the proper method of reading the light that is reflected off of the dent and surrounding area. You must develop proper vision technique to do quality work. Sub-standard light reading technique will make it very difficult to ever learn to do "clean" work.
The dent theory portion of our curriculum demonstrates the geometry of non-collision impact damage (door-dings and hail damage) so you can learn the importance of controlling the shape of the dent as the repair is taking place. We use computerized animation to illustrate the molecular changes that are taking place in the sheet metal as the damage occurs and as the repair is taking place. Seeing it demonstrated in this fashion will allow you to obtain understanding and prove to be tremendously helpful. In addition, much attention is given to proper tool selection as well as panel access.
We will spend time explaining the finer points of PDR estimating. Since we have so much experience in the field, you will find this extremely helpful. We will also share marketing tips so you might better promote your own Paintless operation. All in all, you can not find a more comprehensive training program anywhere. We know different individuals learn at different paces. We also know that the money and time required to get started in PDR is a challenge for some. Because of these challenges and the special needs of different people we offer 2 highly effective training programs:
Program 1
Hands on Training
The Flex-A-Dent Hands-On Training Program is the tried and true training we have preformed since 1992. It requires an individual to spend a minimum of two weeks with us at our location in Springfield, Missouri. Some trainees choose to spend more than the two week minimum and in these cases we are glad to accommodate them at no additional charge when agreed to in advance.
 During that time the trainee will progress step by step, under the direct supervision of Van Yarnell through the Flex-A-Dent curriculum. Working on practice panels, the trainee will complete each step of the curriculum which is designed to develop vision, hand-eye coordination as well as tool selection and panel access. The subjects of estimating and marketing are covered also. At the close of the training period we will supervise the trainee on a “live car” repair situation.
Included with the Hands-On Program is a Quicksilver Hail Set of tools and an LS-2 Light-stand manufactured by A-1 Tools. The Quicksilver Hail Set is made exclusively for Flex-A-Dent. These are the tools we use in the field. This is a complete set you will use with no useless duplications included.
We will assist you with reserving lodging as we are located within blocks of several extended-stay hotels. There are as many as 12 restaurants within walking distance. If you decide to fly into Springfield we can pick you up at the airport if you need it. Most of our trainees that fly in decide to rent cars so they can take advantage of the many attractions here in the Ozarks. Springfield is the home of the Original Bass Pro Shop and it is truly a sight to see.
We have refined our process over the years, and our experience gives you a foundation for success in this growing field. We are convinced we can take you farther and faster than any other program being offered anywhere.
PROGRAM 2
The Flex-A-Dent Step Program
The Flex-A-Dent Step Program is the same comprehensive and quality training as the Hands on Program broken down into, you guess it, steps. Because some individuals are limited by time and finances we have made it possible to get started and continue at your own pace.
> Step 1
Included in Step One is the 5-DVD set Training Series along with the “Money Maker" Rod from the Quicksilver Hail Tool Set. The LS-2 light-stand is optional. The DVD training series will lead you step by step through the same start-up training procedures as if you were here. Beginning with the building of a training stand and acquiring practice panels, through the light theory discussed in the X and O drills, to the complete Dent Science discussion and instruction. This professionally produced digital video is extremely detailed and descriptive. Computerized animation is also included in many areas of instruction so every concept is presented clearly.
As you have followed every instruction carefully, being sure not to move ahead to quickly, you will find that your “dent vision” has become stronger and stronger along with the ability to “read” damage and place your tool where you want to.
Soon you will be able to move to working on “live” cars performing both door ding and hail damage procedures.
> Step 2
Having now progressed to this point after having had some positive experience with Dent Repair, you will find your confidence building. You can now buy additional tools that are detailed in the instructions. You can buy a complete Quicksilver Hail Set or individual pieces as your budget allows.
THE Flex-A-Dent HELP LINE IS AVAILABLE TO YOU THROUGH EVERY PHASE OF THE STEP PROGRAM
> Step 3
You will now be able to schedule a 3-day training session at Flex-A-Dent headquarters. This will give us the opportunity to critique your work and fine-tune every aspect of your PDR technique. During your stay with us you will be exposed to every aspect of dent repair and see first hand what adjustments you might need to make. We will go over any questions you have fully. You will have our complete attention and help.
Although other training companies offer 3-day packages, it is impossible to make an honest comparison. We will not make Step 3 available to anyone who has not completed in detail the DVD training series as prescribed. It is impossible to develop vision, the hand-eye coordination required as well retain all of the information presented in just three days. There is a right way to do things, and if we stick with what works, we will achieve success. We are committed to excellence in our training process, and to your personal success.
